What we Believe

We believe that Jesus is the son of God.

We believe that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit form the Trinity.

We believe that Jesus died for our sins.

We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, written by people, and worthy of life-long study to understand all of its meanings.

We believe in the two great commandments: Love God and Love People. We try to model these commandments in our behavior.

The Importance of Worship

We believe the church is important. It is a gathering of sinners who seek God’s mercy and Jesus’ guidance on how to be better representatives of His love every day. We believe that setting aside time to worship, to be mindful of God’s presence in our lives and to praise him with prayer and song is a very good use of our time and very important to our lives.

God’s gifts are many. We receive solace in times of sorrow, and forgiveness in times of sin and guilt. Our joys are increased and our burdens are made lighter by sharing them with the community of the church.

If you are already a “church” person then know that we confess as our faith the Apostles Creed, The Nicene Creed and the Westminster Concordance.

Sacraments

We believe in two sacraments: Baptism and Communion.

In Communion, this congregation believes that Christ is spiritually present by the power of the Holy Spirit and received by faith. The sacrament is essentially the gift which God makes to us in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is a sacrament because of the unique sacrifice of Christ, whose life, death and resurrection assure us of eternal life. The earthly elements of bread and grape juice are combined with the command of Jesus to “Do this in remembrance of me.”

In Baptism we are named and marked as children of God. We baptize little babies because we believe that becoming a saved Christian is not something we earn but a gift of grace that is freely given by God. We are also happy to baptize adults and anyone in-between.
